Course information

This (2) hour course will teach healthcare givers about the assessment structures and functions of the gastrointestinal system and its accessory organs.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Identify the functions of various anatomical structures within the gastrointestinal system.

✔️ Discuss the process of digestion, transport, and absorption within the gastrointestinal system.

✔️ Identify the functions of the accessory organs of the gastrointestinal system, the liver, gallbladder, and the exocrine pancreas.

✔️ Discuss the components of a focused gastrointestinal assessment.

✔️ Discuss history questions which will help focus your assessment.

✔️ Discuss specific assessment findings that are determined by the history and examination, including inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation.
