Setting the Pace: Pacemaker Principles

The purpose of this (2) hour course is to provide nurses with an overview of temporary and permanent pacemakers. This course will introduce pacemaker anatomy and physiology, the international language of pacemakers, and the interpretation of pacer rhythms.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Review the basic conduction of the heart.

✔️ Delineate types of pacemakers; atrial, ventricular, temporary, and permanent pacemakers.

✔️ Enumerate the indications and contraindications for pacemaker.

✔️ Designate pacemaker functions.

✔️ Interpret pacemaker rhythm strips.
