Course information

The purpose of this (2) hour professional development course for nurses is to raise awareness of the use of social media networking in a professional context and highlight the advantages and pitfalls of using social media networking as a communication tool.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Define and describe what social media networking is.

✔️ Identify two professional benefits and risks of social media networking for nurses.

✔️ Appraise the impact of social media networking on patient privacy, HIPAA regulations, and the Nursing Code of Ethics.

✔️ Define inappropriate use of social media networking in a professional capacity.

✔️ Discuss the use of social media networking as an employment tool.

✔️ Review employer rights in regard to social media networking.
