Diagnosis and Management of Diabetes

The purpose of this (1) hour course is to educate healthcare professionals on the symptoms, course, and management of diabetes. The course contains useful information on vulnerable population groups and treatment options.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Identify two risk factors for pre-diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), impaired fasting glucose (IFG), and diabetes.

✔️ Describe the pathophysiology of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

✔️ Describe the pathophysiology of DKA and HHS.

✔️ Identify two tools for monitoring treatment therapies.

✔️ Describe current medications, use, side effects, and outcomes in the treatment of diabetes.

✔️ Summarize current standards of care for patients with diabetes.

✔️ List two lifestyle recommendations for patients at risk for diabetes.
