Course Description

The purpose of this (2) hour continuing education course for nurses and APRNs is to provide an in-depth review of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), with an emphasis on unstable angina (UA), non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). This course will take you through medical cases using real-life scenarios in which you will assess patients, analyze lab tests, and coordinate care based on diagnosis.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Define acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

✔️ Examine ACS modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors.

✔️ Differentiate between male and female signs and symptoms of ACS.

✔️ Describe the pathophysiology for unstable angina (UA), non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

✔️ Analyze the pharmacological management in the treatment of ACS.

✔️ Explain coronary revascularization procedures and nursing care.
