Course Description

The purpose of this (2) hour course is to assure that licensed, registered, or certified health professionals comply with the Infection Control Training as mandated by the New York legislature, Chapter 786 of the Laws of 1992 and revised in 2018.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Define the professional's responsibility to adhere to infection prevention practices.

✔️ Discuss the professional’s responsibility to monitor infection prevention practices and control practice of the personnel they are responsible for.

✔️ Describe the modes and mechanisms of transmission of pathogens and strategies for prevention and control.

✔️ Describe specific high-risk practices that increase the risk of exposure to potentially infectious material and methods to reduce this risk.

✔️ Describe when and how to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure.

✔️ Discuss the role of effective cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization in disease transmission.

✔️ Identify occupational health strategies for prevention and treatment of communicable disease.
