The purpose of this (1) hour course is to provide information about calculating IV medication dosages related to conversions between different measurement systems.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Identify reasons why nurses need to maintain competency in performing nursing calculations.

✔️ Explain selected basic concepts, facts and principles of algebra and mathematics.

✔️ Perform calculations correctly using the Formula (where appropriate) and Ratio and proportion methods.

✔️ Identify advantages and disadvantages of the Formula and Ratio and proportion methods.

✔️ Convert correctly between selected units of measure: Within the metric system, Between United States Customary measures and the metric system, Between selected cooking measures and the metric system, Between Celsius (centigrade) and Fahrenheit temperature scales

✔️ Calculate drug dosages correctly, finding correct dosages and correct amounts to administer given prescriber orders, selected patient parameters, and concentrations and amounts on hand.
