The purpose of this (1) hour course is to provide a brief overview of intravenous (IV) therapy, including care and potential complications.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Identify types and purposes of a variety of peripheral IV catheters and fluids for adult patients.

✔️ Identify technique and documentation criteria for inserting and removing a peripheral IV line or saline lock.

✔️ Discuss standards of management of IV lines, including tubing changes, rotation of IV sites, and peripheral dressing changes.

✔️ Recognize potential complications of IV therapy and management strategies.
