The purpose of this (1) hour course is to improve CNA's knowledge about infection prevention practices.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Describe the benefit of using infection prevention practices.

✔️ Determine who has responsibility for using infection prevention practices and the consequences for failing to use them.

✔️ Describe how infection is spread in healthcare settings.

✔️ List actions in your job that prevent infection.

✔️ Describe the correct way of handwashing.

✔️ Define actions necessary after a needlestick injury.

✔️ Identify barriers / personal protective equipment you use in your job.

✔️ Recognize the importance of correct cleaning of patient-care equipment.

✔️ List the ways to protect yourself from HIV on the job.

✔️ Tell what to do if you are exposed to infection on the job.

✔️ Identify resources for healthcare workers infected with HIV, HBV, and HCV.
