This one (1) hour course is designed to educate Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) about latex allergies, including who is at risk. It also covers how to safely care for patients with latex allergies and how to minimize the chance of developing a latex allergy.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Describe the signs, symptoms, onset, and prevention of irritant contact dermatitis.

✔️ Discuss how healthcare professionals can reduce their risk of latex sensitivity in themselves and their patients.

✔️ Identify the characteristics of people most at risk for latex allergy.

✔️ Summarize the steps required to safely care for surgical patients who are allergic to latex.

✔️ Discuss alternative management strategies to address latex sensitivity and the need for latex products in healthcare settings.
