The Illinois Sexual Assault and Medical Forensic Services (2) hour training being provided by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General SANE Program will meet the mandatory continuing education requirement for responding to sexual assault survivors as addressed in the Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act (410 ILCS 70/2).

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Describe current sexual assault epidemiology.

✔️ Review the Neurobiology of Trauma.

✔️ Review current Illinois legislation that mandates the care and services to be provided to Illinois sexual assault survivors, including child sexual assault survivors.

✔️ Demonstrate the steps of performing a medical forensic exam, including the evidence collection kit.

✔️ Evaluate how to screen for and treat a patient who may have experienced a drug-facilitated sexual assault.
