The purpose of this (2) hour course is to outline the process of breastfeeding initiation and to discuss basic lactation issues commonly seen during the early postpartum period.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills to:

✔️ Describe the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding.

✔️ Identify the signs of a good feed and offer an advantage of each of the three basic nursing positions and an advantage of each position.

✔️ Describe three interventions you can perform to promote successful breastfeeding in the early postpartum period.

✔️ Define two breastfeeding challenges and steps to resolve them.

✔️ Identify one contraindication to breastfeeding in the US.
